Breeding Philosophy
While bull sales are our primary means to share genetics, it is the female we are focused on.
We aim to sell bulls that breed cows! Arkle Angus understand that although they may not be the most talked about traits, longevity, and fertility, along with rapid early calf growth, are the main profit drivers of the commercial producer. These traits are the cornerstone to all of our breeding decisions.
We use breed-plan and genomics, not as a stand-alone genetic selection wizard but a tool to determine the likelihood of specific traits being passed on to subsequent progeny. We will always look at phenotype and structure before introducing a new genetic line with no compromise on feet or structure.
Our cattle are run on the sandy soils of the south coast of WA where there is no hiding poor structure. We look to use cattle with deep, tried and tested pedigrees from Angus studs with many years of breeding experience to accelerate our genetic gain for the benefit of our clients.
